We are living in a swamp of industrial chemicals. Nobody knows yet what they are doing to us. We need to clean up our environment. Also climate change. We have to stop burning fossil fuel, so we need alternative energy.

But in the short run we can't stay the single superpower, defeating all others, without using vast quantities of fossil fuel. We have to give that up. The global economy is increasingly rickety. The international banking system is undependable. We need a collection of regional economies that are less interdependent, that are organized more to be robust than to maximize production or profit.
