Our most important goal is the survival of humanity. This is in doubt – we could go extinct. We depend on intact ecosystems; these contain genetic wealth that we haven't yet learned to exploit. So we must try to save as many other species as we can.

We are in a mad rush to convert resources into waste. We must learn how to live rich and meaningful lives while “consuming” much less.

To make this work we must persuade the large majority of the public. We cannot impose our ideas on them, they would resist and we would not accomplish much. We must create a culture of cooperation that outcompetes the existing culture of domination, or again we can't accomplish much.
